Courses - Fall -One-Day Workshop: Photo Etching - jewelry
- Instructor: Erin Holstein
- When: Saturday, October 16th, 10am-4pm
view calendar for a schedule of classes - Cost: $120
This intensive course focuses on etching intricate patterns into metal. Etching is the perfect way for jewelers of all levels to create your own signature design in relief on copper or brass sheet. Instruction will be given in chemical safety, etching theory, pattern preparation, image application, and post-etching fabrication and oxidation.
Students will learn how to transfer high contrast, black and white digital images*, as well as their own unique drawings and designs into an etched pattern in copper or brass. This one-day, intensive class will provide enough materials to etch two 3x6" pieces of copper or brass. *Please bring images to class, either on your laptop (please provide your own flash drive) or black and white photocopy. Remember that images will be printed in reverse! (Limit 8 students).
Our One-Day Workshops last 5 hours and include instruction and materials, but you'll need a bag lunch and a snack (or you can go to the wonderful buffet in the Dekalb Farmer's Market, less than 1/4 mile down the road)!
